Celebrating Spring

Indian Hill’s Annual Easter Egg Hunt Is A Village Favorite
by Moira Grainger

The afternoon of April 9 was picture perfect for Indian Hill’s annual Easter Egg Hunt and drew what was probably the biggest crowd in the history of this event. Warm breezes over the weekend dried out the turf at Stephan Field just in time for the 700+  pounds of candy that was distributed around the ball fields.

Steve Hilmer has spearheaded this event for more than 25 years on behalf of the Indian Hill Recreation Commission. Always recognizable for his Tilley hat and Ray Ban sunglasses, Mr. Hilmer had no trouble recruiting parent volunteers to spread candy across the area while kids lined up along the path to the playground.

When the whistle blew promptly at 2:00 pm, candy-seekers were off at a full gallop with anything from Kroger bags to fancy Easter baskets in tow. It took just under four minutes for all the candy to be scooped up, leaving yellow lacrosse balls to be discovered by the lucky winners of some very lovable plush bunnies!

Here’s a look back at a favorite Village tradition.
