A Word With… Dr. David “Scott” Lipps

New to Wyoming Living is our A Word With… column featuring those who work in our community. In an effort to learn more about those spending 40-60 hours a week in our little burb, we wanted to find a way to scratch beneath the surface of a work-related interview.



Wyoming Dentist Dr. David “Scott” Lipps answered a handful of different questions about his path leading to Wyoming, his hobbies, and his favorite things. Here are his thoughtful answers:

Name: David “Scott” Lipps
Title: General Dentist – Office at 423 Worthington Avenue
Years in this position: “I am in my 33rd year!”

What was your path leading to your current career in Wyoming?
“I spent my early years in Cincinnati attending Monfort Heights Elementary. Then I spent my early middle school and high school in Columbus, graduating from Westerville High School in 1976. I received my Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Cincinati in 1980. I graduated from Ohio State University College of Dentistry in June of 1984.”

What is the best book you have read this year?
“All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr.”

What is your go-to-book to read?
“For Whom the Bell Tolls by Ernest Hemingway.”

How about your favorite movie?
“I love Rocky.”

What is the best play or musical you have ever seen live?
“It is tie between The Book of Mormon and Jersey Boys.”

Who is your favorite musician – and why?
“The Beatles! They are/were phenomenal and make me feel good!”

What was your favorite subject when you were in school?
“Biology and Life Science.”

What is your hidden talent?
“Grape growing and, then, Wine Making.”

Where would your dream vacation take you?
“Vineyard tours of Chile and Argentina”

What is your guilty pleasure to binge watch on television?
“Friday Night Lights.”

What is one thing the Wyoming community does not know about you?
“I am in a fishing league (very low key!!)”

If you could invite one person from history to a dinner party, who would you choose?
“Thomas Jefferson.”

What business would you love to see in Wyoming?
“Coffee and wine bar.”

What is your favorite kind of ice cream?
“I really love soft serve like Putz’s, etc. In fact, maybe an ice cream soft serve/coffee shop/wine bar is ‘THE’ business!”
