On Friday, April 5, a large crowd of history-loving Fort Thomas residents gathered at Fort Thomas Coffee for a special book release featuring the community’s long military history.
“From Peach Orchard to Park”, written by local author and Fort Thomas Museum Director Deanna Beineke, uses decades of Fort Thomas historical records to paint a picture of what Tower Park looked like as a military post back in the 1890s. Using letters, diaries, newspaper articles and original post records, Beineke has painted a picture of what the former military post meant to the Fort Thomas community, the region and the nation.
The well-attended event was emceed by Lori Greis and included a Q&A session with Beineke. It even featured some peach-themed drink specials from the imaginative minds at Fort Thomas Coffee.
To purchase the book for $50, visit the Fort Thomas Museum or Fort Thomas City Building.
