Fort Thomas receives federal grant for new skate park

 Fort Thomas Mayor Eric Haas and City Administrator Matt Kremer were presented with a $125,000 check by Lt. Governor Jacqueline Coleman for the Highland Hills Park Skate Park on Monday, June 17.

The Land Water Conservation Fund provides federal grant funds towards developing public outdoor recreation facilities across the commonwealth. The city applied to receive funds to go towards the skate park project in Highland Hills Park and was among several cities in Northern Kentucky to receive this funding. Lt. Governor Coleman stated that “the best part of these announcements is the real-life impact they have on our families.” 

Mayor Haas stated, “The city is blessed to receive this check and is looking forward to adding a newly anticipated public amenity for its residents in the future.”

The city thanks the LWCF Advisory Board, the Department of the Interior’s National Park Service, the Department for Local Government, and Lt. Governor Coleman for this grant. The city also extended its thanks to Tom Meyn for his assistance and support with the grant and project.
