In March, Woodfill Elementary 3rd graders took a special trip to Springcreek Farm in Mason County, where they explored the full cycle of farming—from sowing seeds to selling crops.
During their visit, students toured high tunnels filled with early spring plants, discovered a natural freshwater spring, and learned about the importance of composting in sustainable agriculture. Each student even had the chance to get their hands dirty by planting seeds of their own.
The learning experience doesn’t stop there. On May 7, the students will bring their seedlings to the Fort Thomas Farmers Market, where they’ll complete the farm-to-market journey by selling their plants to the community.
The field trip was hosted by farmers Kim and Eric Keef of Springcreek Farm, in collaboration with Campbell County Extension Agent Sarah Imbus and members of the Fort Thomas Farmers Market volunteer team.
