Cincinnati Preservation Series Kicks Off With Roller Skating History May 20

Cincinnati Preservation will kick off its Preservation in the Park story series with the “History of Roller Skating in Cincinnati” on Tuesday, May 20, starting at 5:30 p.m.

The event is the first in a series of talks on “The Porch in Washington Park” presented by Cincinnati Preservation. The series runs from May through October at Washington Park, 1230 Elm Street.

Morgan Rigaud of Skate Downtown Cincy will discuss the history of roller skating culture in our city and their work reviving this amazing performance art.

This year’s theme for the series is Sports and Recreation. All are invited to come and hear stories about our city’s historic sites and structures, hosted by Cincinnati Preservation. No reservation is required and the event is free.

“In 2025 we will explore stories and histories associated with sports and recreational sites and activities in Greater Cincinnati. While we all love the big sports like baseball and football, we will delve into other arenas such as tennis, roller skating, horse racing, and others,” the organizers wrote, adding, “Grab a drink from the bar, sit back and let us tell you a story.”
