This upcoming school year will be the second year that Indian Hill High School will participate in a scholarship program with the government of Spain for students from the Canary Islands who are considered the future leaders of their island, Tenerife.
47 students were selected out of hundreds of applicants and awarded a scholarship to study online to get an American high school diploma and come to Cincinnati/NKY for one month to attend school! Indian Hill High School is one of the 14 local schools that participate in the program. In order to qualify, Spanish students must not only have nearly perfect grades (average is 9.5/10), but they must also demonstrate financial need and that they wouldn’t be able to pay for this program without the scholarship.
Host Families Needed Urgently
This program is organized by a local non-profit called Live N Learn (www.livenlearn.com). They are still looking for host families in the district with students who are 15-18 years old and can host from August 15 – September 13! The Spanish student will be matched to your child based on age, gender, and interests, and will shadow their schedule during their time here. It is free and you only need to provide food and a bed (a shared bedroom is fine). It’s OK if your child is doing a sport as the Spanish students are here to learn and observe all parts of American culture (and live the hustle and bustle). Your family will receive free tickets to FC Cincinnati, the Cincinnati Reds and Kings Island as part of the program.
