School for Creative & Performing Arts welcomes new artistic director

The School For Creative & Performing Arts announced it welcomed accomplished artist and educator, James Jones, as artistic director for the school effective on July 1, As artistic director, Jones will collaborate with and oversee SCPA’s artistic departments to implement the artistic curriculum and SCPA’s 250+ performances annually.

Jones brings a broad range of experience to the position with a background in teaching, directing, acting, costume design, set design and career technical education. Before becoming the head of the Drama Department at SCPA, he spent more than a decade working professionally in theaters across the country. 

Jones holds a BFA in musical theatre from Northern Kentucky University, an MEd from Bowling Green State University and holds a Career Technical Education Certification.

Jones joins the SCPA Leadership Team overseeing nationally, top-rated artistic programming dedicated to preparing students for lifelong involvement in artistic and academic pursuits.
