Aidan Kincaid spreads support and education about Growth Hormone Deficiency with his nonprofit organization
Indian Hill High School student Aidan Kincaid and his student-led nonprofit organization, Teens Together, presented a $10,000 donation to Dayton Children’s Hospital and its Growth Hormone Fund on Friday, January 9, at Dayton Children’s Hospital. The donation supports children diagnosed with Growth Hormone Deficiency (GHD) by helping offset the high cost of treatment, which can exceed $30,000 annually for many families.
Kincaid was diagnosed with Growth Hormone Deficiency in seventh grade and received treatment at Dayton Children’s Hospital. His personal experience with the physical, emotional, and financial realities of GHD inspired him to create Teens Together, a student-driven nonprofit organization focused on raising awareness of rare genetic disorders and closing financial gaps that prevent children from receiving necessary medical treatment.
“I feel like I spent so much time being confused,” said Kincaid. “As my mom and I went from doctor to doctor, I kept asking myself, ‘Why is my body not working like the others? Why am I not growing as I used to?’ It wasn’t until we came to Dayton Children’s and met Dr. Pfeifer that all my questions were finally answered. I was told I would be okay and supported through every stage of growth from that point forward.”
Kincaid said the school community came out in full support of his mission.
“We are incredibly proud of all Aidan has accomplished; his work through Teens Together reflects the very best of Indian Hill High School,” said Principal Andy Gruber. “Aidan identified a real need, turned a deeply personal experience into purposeful action, and brought our community together to make a meaningful difference for children and families beyond our district. We celebrate Aidan for his leadership, compassion, and commitment to serving others.”
The funds were raised through a combination of community events and online giving, including a pickleball fundraiser at Kenwood Country Club in August that drew more than 75 attendees and 50 tournament participants, raising $2,000. The remaining funds were raised through online donations, with significant support from Indian Hill families, students, and staff. Kincaid personally built the donation website and coordinated outreach through email and text.
“Raising this money means so much more to me than the number,” Kincaid shared. “It means that more kids in this hospital will have access to treatment that so many families can’t access because of financial barriers. Being able to give back to the staff who helped me along my journey was incredibly meaningful, and I hope this gives struggling parents hope.
“I am so grateful to everyone at Dayton Children’s Hospital, and especially my mom, for standing by my side every step of the way.”
