The Indian Hill Board of Education has launched a comprehensive and inclusive search process to identify the district’s next superintendent, emphasizing community engagement, transparency, and long-term vision. The Board, in partnership with Hamilton County Educational Services Center, is committed to a thoughtful superintendent selection process that reflects the values of the Indian Hill community, honors students and staff, and positions the district for continued excellence.
“Selecting our next superintendent is one of the most important responsibilities of the Board,” said Indian Hill Board of Education President Bear Tullis. “We are approaching this work with care and intention, listening closely to our community, valuing diverse perspectives, and ensuring the voices of students, staff, families, and residents meaningfully shape the future leadership of our district.”
Listening First
Throughout the month of February, the Board will engage multiple stakeholder groups to gather broad and meaningful input, including:
- Parent and Community Survey
All Indian Hill School District residents will receive a printed postcard to engage in a survey for the superintendent search; additionally, the district will send a digital version of the survey link to parents and guardians. This survey is an opportunity for families and community members to share their priorities, hopes, and expectations for the district’s next leader. - Focus Groups
Facilitated discussions with key stakeholder groups will explore themes in greater depth and add context to survey feedback. - Student and Staff Forums
Dedicated sessions designed to elevate student voice and staff insight will be opportunities for the Board to hear directly from those who experience Indian Hill Schools every day.
Leading Forward
In early March, the Board will receive a comprehensive report summarizing community input. The report will include:
- A Superintendent Profile outlining the leadership qualities, skills, and experiences most important to the community
- Stakeholder perception data related to the district’s current direction and future aspirations
This information will be shared with the community and will guide the Board’s decision-making as it advances through the superintendent search process.
Commitment to Excellence
The Board of Education values the time, honesty, and care stakeholders bring to this process. Each opportunity for engagement is intentionally designed to ensure voices are heard, perspectives are respected, and community insight plays a meaningful role in shaping the district’s future.
The Indian Hill Board of Education search announcement follows the departure of former Indian Hill Superintendent Kirk Koennecke, who left in December to pursue a leadership opportunity at a K-12 school district in Texas.
“The Indian Hill School District is in an exceptionally strong position, and we are excited about the opportunities ahead for our students, staff, and community,” said Tullis. “We are deeply grateful to Dr. Melissa Stewart for stepping into the role of Interim Superintendent with steady leadership and a clear commitment to excellence. With her guidance and the continued support of our dedicated educators and families, we are confident in the direction of the district and optimistic about the future we are building together.”
Additional information about the superintendent search will be shared with the community as the process continues
