World Peace Yoga has become the first yoga studio in Cincinnati to have its school and certification program accredited by the American Yoga Council (AYC). This distinction places World Peace Yoga among a leading group of the first 500 schools nationwide to receive this accreditation, joining prestigious institutions such as the Himalayan Institute and Loyola Marymount University Master of Arts in Yoga.
The AYC is currently disrupting the industry by offering a “yoga-first,” competency-based alternative to traditional registration systems. Combining professional networking similar to Linkedin and lineage recognition like Ancestry.com, the AYC provides a transparent look at a teacher’s history and expertise.
“For years, I searched for an accreditation that truly served yoga teachers and the community, while respecting the roots of yoga,” said Anna Ferguson, founder of World Peace Yoga.” The AYC aligns beautifully with our values, focusing on sustainability in offering yoga as a service and accountability for teachers rather than just administrative fees.”
Key highlights of the new accreditation include:
- Lineage-Honoring Standards: Moving beyond rigid, hour-based models to focus on actual competency.
- Teacher-Led Leadership: Managed by experienced practitioners rather than corporate administrators.
- Accountability: Ensuring high-quality instruction and professional support for both schools and students.
In addition to this new milestone, World Peace Yoga continues its collaboration with the University of Cincinnati. Aspiring instructors can pursue certification through UC Skills, CECH, or directly through World Peace Yoga’s acclaimed programs.
Since 2005, World Peace Yoga has operated on Ludlow Ave in Clifton, driven by the philosophy that yoga is for every “living, breathing body.” Known for its inclusive motto, “Yoga for people who breathe,” the studio remains dedicated to a practice rooted in choice, consent, and authenticity.
