Local Business Commits to Year-round Support for Family Nurturing Center

In April, the Family Nurturing Center (FNC) announced an expanded and innovative commitment from Tom Gill Chevrolet that will provide ongoing, year-round support for child abuse prevention and treatment services across the region.

At this year’s Blue Ribbon Kickoff event, long-time community partner Tom Gill introduced a new approach to giving: rather than a one-time annual donation, Tom Gill Chevrolet will contribute $4 for every vehicle sold, a commitment expected to generate nearly $20,000 annually based on current sales volume.

For more than 20 years, Tom Gill Chevrolet has hosted the Blue Ribbon Kickoff and contributed over $140,000 in direct support of Family Nurturing Center’s mission. This new model builds on that legacy while expanding both impact and engagement.

“This approach is about more than the dollars,” said Jane Herms, President & CEO of Family Nurturing Center. “Tom wanted to create a way for every member of his team to feel connected to the cause. Now, every car sold represents an investment in safe children and strong families.”

“We’ve always believed in supporting the community, but this felt like a way to take it a step further,” said Tom Gill. “We wanted our entire team to be part of it, to know that every car they sell is helping a child and a family. This keeps that connection front and center every day, not just during one event or one month.”

The shift to a per-vehicle contribution model allows Tom Gill Chevrolet to:

  • Engage their full team in supporting child abuse prevention and treatment
  • Create daily awareness and connection to the mission
  • Extend impact beyond a single event or month to sustained, year-round support

Family Nurturing Center serves nearly 10,000 individuals annually across Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky, providing free services including trauma-focused counseling, parenting support, education, and therapeutic parenting time. Community partnerships like this play a critical role in sustaining and expanding that work.

“This is a powerful example of what it looks like to integrate giving into everyday business,” Herms added. “It keeps the conversation about child abuse prevention visible, ongoing, and shared.”

The Blue Ribbon Kickoff marks the beginning of Child Abuse Prevention Month in April, a time dedicated to raising awareness and mobilizing the community to support children and families.
