Indian Hill student awarded Miami University Arts Scholarship through Governor’s Youth Art Exhibition
Senior Caroline Winks awarded prestigious Edna Kelly Scholarship
The Indian Hill School District celebrates Indian Hill High School senior Caroline Winks who has been awarded a prestigious $7,500 Edna Kelly Scholarship to Miami University’s arts program. The scholarship follows her recognition in the Ohio Governor’s Youth Art Exhibition (OGYAE), one of the state’s most competitive and distinguished student art exhibitions.
Winks earned the scholarship for her original artwork, Cyanotype Tote, which was selected for recognition during
the OGYAE awards ceremony held recently in Columbus. Miami University, one of the exhibition’s sponsors, presented the scholarship as part of its support for outstanding young artists across Ohio.
“This is such an exciting accomplishment, and we’re incredibly proud to see one of our students receive such a significant award
for her artwork,” said Indian Hill Arts & Activities Director Amy Clark. “I know I speak on behalf of Caroline’s visual arts teachers at Indian Hill when I say how proud we are of her creativity, originality, and willingness to explore across artistic disciplines. She truly embodies the spirit of arts education at Indian Hill.”
Wink’s piece stood out for its ability to blend multiple artistic disciplines into a single, compelling work, incorporating elements of
fashion design, photography, landscape imagery, and mixed media techniques. Additional works in her portfolio, including a multimedia drawing of a cello and experimental photographic pieces combining imagery and writing, also demonstrated her creative ability to synthesize multiple artistic forms into cohesive and expressive artwork.
Winks is currently planning to attend Miami University, making the scholarship especially meaningful as she prepares to continue her artistic journey at the collegiate level.
Indian Hill had an exceptional showing at this year’s Governor’s Youth Art Exhibition, with four students earning a total of five
state awards. The Ohio Governor’s Youth Art Exhibition showcases outstanding student artwork from across the state and provides scholarship opportunities and statewide recognition for exceptional young artists.
