Indian Hill Middle School earns elite Ohio STEM School Designation

Indian Hill School District celebrates STEM best-practices across entire district

The Indian Hill School District is proud to announce that Indian Hill Middle School has earned official STEM School Designation from the Ohio Department of Education & Workforce and the Ohio STEM Learning Network (OSLN), joining an elite network of schools across the state recognized for excellence in science, technology, engineering and mathematics education. Indian Hill Middle School now joins Indian Hill High School, Indian Hill Elementary School and Indian Hill Primary School in receiving Ohio STEM recognition.

“This recognition reflects the extraordinary work happening every day inside Indian Hill Middle School classrooms,” said Indian Hill Middle School Principal Dr. Lauren Gentene. “Our teachers create meaningful, inquiry-based learning experiences that inspire students to think critically, collaborate creatively and solve real-world problems. We are incredibly proud of our students and staff for earning this distinction and continuing to build a culture of innovation and excellence.”

The Ohio STEM Committee approved Indian Hill Middle School for a five-year STEM school designation beginning in May 2026. The designation recognizes schools that challenge and empower students through innovative teaching and learning, authentic inquiry-based experiences and design-thinking approaches to problem solving that prepare students for success in the 21st century workforce. Indian Hill High School was recommended for STEM Designation in May 2025, earning recognition from the Ohio Department of Education & Workforce and the Ohio STEM Learning Network as one of the best schools in the state for STEM learning. Indian Hill Elementary School and Indian Hill Primary School both earned STEM designation in May 2023.

According to the Ohio Department of Education & Workforce, STEM-designated schools foster intellectual, entrepreneurial and technical skills that are critical to Ohio’s future economic growth and prosperity.

“Indian Hill Middle School’s STEM designation is another remarkable milestone for our district and a testament to the dedication of our educators, students, and families,” said Indian Hill Superintendent Dr. Melissa Stewart. “This achievement demonstrates our continued focus on providing innovative educational experiences that prepare students not only for academic success, but for leadership and impact in an ever-evolving world.”
