Art After Hours Draws a Crowd

Story and photos by Mary Casey-Sturk

Music was in the air as hundreds visited the Carrico/Fort Thomas Branch Library tonight for the annual Art After Hours event. A celebration of the Adult Summer Reading finale, it featured local artists as well as the library’s Tiny Art Show.

The Cincinnati Contemporary Jazz Orchestra kept toes tapping while guests enjoyed hors d’oeuvres, sweet treats and mocktails from Kate’s Catering. Fort Thomas Florist & Greenhouses brought summer inside with colorful flower arrangements.

Fort Thomas artist Chris Rust (known for his chainsaw carvings) and fellow artists Sharmon Davidson, Jerry Warner, Ruthie Wyman, Kathleen Piercefield, Kent Krugh, Joanna Price, Zijah Popaja, Mike Burdge, Martha Mocahbee and Leanne Barlow displayed and sold their art throughout the library.

Browsers and shoppers delighted in the variety of art for sale. Doug Taylor of Wilder shared, “my wife and I attend every year, it’s become a summertime date night tradition”.
