Queen City Book Bank Leaders Throw Ceremonial First Pitch at Cincinnati Reds Game, Highlighting the Power of Community

Queen City Book Bank (QCBB) proudly celebrated a memorable evening at the Cincinnati Reds game on July 27th as Board Chair Katy Meinhardt and Vice Chair Kevin Kushman took the field to deliver the ceremonial first pitch.

Mother Nature had other plans and severe weather forced the game to be canceled shortly after the ceremony. Katy and Kevin’s first pitch became the highlight of the evening and ultimately the only pitch thrown before the rain halted play. Their teamwork and enthusiasm perfectly reflected the spirit and mission of Queen City Book Bank.

“We have always known Katy and Kevin make an incredible team,” said QCBB CEO Michelle Otten Guenther. “Their ceremonial first pitch showed they are just as dynamic on the baseball field as they are in leading Queen City Book Bank. They represented our organization with pride, and we are grateful to them, and to our entire Board of Directors, for serving as passionate ambassadors for QCBB.”

The evening also brought exciting news for the organization as QCBB received a $1,000 gift from United Way, further supporting its’ mission to unlock our community’s potential through improving access to high-quality books and literacy programming.

Queen City Book Bank is incredibly grateful to the Cincinnati Reds for the opportunity, to United Way for their generous support, and to everyone who braved the rainy weather to celebrate with them. Despite the abbreviated evening, the event served as a meaningful reminder of the strong community partnerships that help Queen City Book Bank inspire young readers and expand access to books across the region.
