A vibrant celebration of wildlife, minimalism and mid-century design is set to captivate art lovers this November as the Village Players of Fort Thomas opens its doors for an exhibit centered on the acclaimed work of late artist Charley Harper (1922–2007).
Titled “Nature Reimagined: The Joyful Art of Charley Harper,” the exhibit will showcase approximately 40 pieces — including framed prints and rarely seen originals — from Harper’s distinctive body of work.
The gallery will be free and open to the public during regular hours, with several special ticketed events scheduled:
- Nov. 1, 6:30 p.m.–9:00 p.m.: Opening night Fundraiser reception with a presentation by Harper’s son, Brett Harper. ($30 entry fee)
- Nov. 8, 6:30 p.m.–9:00 p.m.: Collectors’ reception featuring a Q&A with prominent Harper collector David Hausrath.
- Nov. 15, 10:00 a.m.–noon: “Paint Like Charley Harper,” a hands-on workshop led by James Reynolds (all supplies included, $52).
- Nov. 15, 1:30–4:00 p.m.: Road-show style appraisal event by Graydon Sykes (bring up to two items; $5 ticket).

Harper remains best known for his highly stylized depictions of wildlife — particularly birds — created in a bold, graphic style that blended humor, precision and ecological awareness. His clientele included major nature-based organizations such as the National Park Service, the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden, the Cincinnati Nature Center, the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and the Hawk Mountain Sanctuary.
The Village Players is located at 8 N Fort Thomas Ave., Fort Thomas, KY 41075.
