The Hyde Park Art Show, one of the largest one-day art show in our region, returned October 5. The show featured 200 artists from the Greater Cincinnati area and provided an excellent opportunity to see and purchase art and celebrate our rich creative community.
The event also raises funds to support professional artists of the future. Each year the show’s organizers select promising college art students for a $2000 scholarship to pursue their studies.
This year’s winners are Molly Rahtz from University of Cincinnati’s College of Design, Art, Architecture and Planning Department (DAAP), and two students from Northern Kentucky University’s School of the Arts (SOTA) — Rachel Paxitzis and Hannah Wardlow.
The scholarships go to juniors majoring in art-related fields with the intent to pursue a professional career in an art field. Students from area colleges and universities make an application by March each year to the Hyde Park Square Art Show Scholarship Committee.
Links to scholarship applications for next year will be found on the DAAP and Art Academy websites as well as those of other local institutions. Congratulations to the artists and the community!
