LEADING NOW: Indian Hill School District expands real-world learning through IH Experienceships

An outstanding 58 Indian Hill High School students spent the summer interning through IH Entrepreneurs’ Center at professional organizations

The Indian Hill School District is leading now through the IH Entrepreneurs’ Center Experienceships program. The innovative model connects students with professional learning opportunities across a wide range of fields, and students didn’t take the summer off from these unique opportunities. During June and July, 58 Indian Hill High School students participated in professional programs, job shadows, or internships with 36 unique partners – including nonprofits, higher education institutions, start-ups, and large businesses. The District also celebrates the 2024-2025 school year with 166 students actively enrolled in the IH Experienceships program, marking a record level of student engagement.

“We are committed to helping students apply what they learn in the classroom to real-world situations,” said Jeff Damadeo, Indian Hill director of K-12 Leadership and Career Development. “Through the IH Experienceships program, students not only develop practical skills, but also gain confidence, perspective, and connections that can shape their futures.”

The IH Experienceships program is designed to give Indian Hill students direct exposure to career pathways, industries, and professional networks – preparing them for success in college, career, and life. Opportunities range from one-day job shadowing experiences to semester-long internships in fields such as engineering, healthcare, technology, marketing, and nonprofit leadership.

“Our mission is to provide our students with the highest-quality, most personalized education possible,” said IH Experienceships Coordinator Lauren Richardson. “The IH Experienceships program is a model of how schools can partner with the broader community to ensure students are future-ready.”

“This is one more example of how our district is leading now,” said Indian Hill CEO/Superintendent Kirk Koennecke. “The growth we’ve seen this year demonstrates how valuable these connections are for our students and our partners alike. We are excited to see what this school year holds.”
