CCDS Teacher Recognized as Educator of the Year by Queen City Theatre Collaborative

At the inaugural Queen City Theatre Collaborative (QCTC) Awards, Cincinnati Country Day School’s Evan DiTullio received one of the evening’s highest honors: Educator of the Year.

“This award is a powerful recognition of Evan’s tireless commitment to our students, his artistry behind the scenes, and the care and mentorship he brings to every production,” says Nick Rose, arts department chair at Country Day. “His leadership shapes not only the technical excellence of our shows, but also the growth, confidence, and collaboration of the students who work alongside him.”

Evan, who serves as the school’s technical theater director and video production teacher, said the award was especially meaningful because students nominated him for the honor.

“The fact that my students put me up for that blew me away,” says Evan. “It means the world to me. Thank you. I don’t know what else to say; I’m speechless.”

He reflected on the role theater played in his own life and the environment he hopes to create for students at Country Day.

“Theater gave me a place to belong. It gave me a home when I was in high school, and my goal has always been to give that environment to kids who didn’t have anywhere else to go. This school is amazing and gives us so many opportunities to bond and mentor the students. Country Day is truly special.”

The Queen City Theatre Collaborative was established this year to celebrate excellence in high school musical theater and arts education throughout Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky. The organization partners with the Cincinnati Arts Association and Broadway in Cincinnati and includes 15 participating schools in its inaugural season.

In addition to DiTullio’s honor, the school’s Upper School theater program earned nominations for Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, Best Technical Execution, and Best Musical.

“Being nominated in four major areas is a meaningful reflection of the talent, dedication, and artistry our students brought to the production,” says Nick. “We are incredibly proud of their work and the high standard they continue to represent.”

Rose added that the evening served as a reminder of the lasting impact educators can have on students.

“While awards nights don’t always unfold the way we hope, this honor is a reminder of the impact our educators have and the strength of the program they help build every day.”
