Scouting America Honors Military Families by Waiving Fees

As the United States prepares to celebrate its 250th birthday in 2026, Dan Beard Council, Scouting America is inviting families across Southwest Ohio and Northern Kentucky to honor America’s legacy by investing in the next generation of leaders, citizens, and community servants through Scouting.

In recognition of the sacrifices made by military families, Scouting America offers a national joining fee waiver program for active-duty military families, helping reduce barriers to participation and ensuring more youth can experience the benefits of Scouting.

“America’s 250th birthday is an opportunity to reflect on the values that have shaped our nation and to invest in the young people who will carry those values forward,” said Andy Zahn, Scout Executive and CEO of the Dan Beard Council. “Scouting helps young people develop character, leadership, citizenship, and a commitment to service. We are proud that Scouting America continues to support military families through programs that make participation more accessible.”

Through outdoor adventure, leadership development, community service, STEM education, and workforce readiness programs, Scouting provides youth with opportunities to build confidence, learn practical skills, and become active, engaged citizens.
