Summer Reading is Back! May 30 – July 31
This summer our theme was inspired by Ohio’s American 250 celebration themes for June, “Ohio Outdoors,” and July, “Ohio Gathers.” We’re calling it: Camp Read!
Kids 0-12 are invited to participate in a 25 day challenge to read, create, discover, and explore Hamilton County all summer long! This challenge is designed to support young readers by building literacy skills and creating reading habits. Kids will also be allowed the space and opportunity to exercise creativity and imagination.
Teens 13-18 are invited to participate in a 15 day challenge to capture and reflect on memories and accomplishments that shape their summer through reading, creating, discovering, and exploring.
All youth who sign-up to participate in Summer Reading will receive a free book to keep and a voucher for 2 free Reds tickets to select games. Youth who complete Summer Reading will receive a special prize! And for extra fun, any youth looking for an extra challenge this summer can work to earn 8 different Camp Badges!

Here are some recent favorites from our monthly book club, held the third Friday at 3 pm:
Convenience Store Woman by Sayaka Murata – The story of a young woman living in Tokyo who has always struggled with social interaction and cultural expectations, except for at “Smile Mart,” the convenience store where she’s worked for the past eighteen years which provided her, and all employees, with a set of unambiguous rules on interpersonal relations. Funny slice of life observations from a neurodivergent perspective.
Last Murder at the End of the World Stuart Turton – In an apocalyptic future, 125 people live on an idyllic, isolated island surrounded by deadly poisonous fog. On one horrible night, a resident is murdered, the system that keeps the fog at bay is broken, and everyone loses all memory of what happened in the last 12 hours. High concept murder mystery.
