Meals will be distributed to Greater Cincinnati families in need through local partner La Soupe as fifth annual community-wide service initiative continues through Saturday.
The Rotary Club of Cincinnati kicked off its fifth annual Rotary Cincinnati Do Days service initiative Thursday, October 15, with an extraordinary show of community support: 100 volunteers packed 40,392 meals in under two hours to help address food insecurity among local families.
The result far exceeded the organization’s stretch goal of 30,000 meals and marked a significant increase from the 24,000 meals packed during last year’s event.
All 40,392 meals will remain in the Greater Cincinnati area and be distributed to local families in need through Rotary’s distribution partner, La Soupe. This partnership ensures the impact of the volunteer effort stays close to home, helping address food insecurity and providing much-needed meals to families throughout our community.
With approximately 24% of children in Hamilton County living in poverty, initiatives like this help address critical needs in the community.
The meal-packing event was made possible through the generosity of presenting sponsor Fifth Third Bank, support from the Cincinnati Bengals through an NFL Huddle grant, additional sponsors, and volunteers who came together to make a difference.
“Packing more than 40,000 meals in under two hours demonstrates what is possible when our community comes together with a shared commitment to service,” said Sara Pattison, Executive Director of the Rotary Club of Cincinnati and Rotary Foundation of Cincinnati. “And this is just the beginning. Rotary Do Days continues through Saturday, with volunteers serving nonprofit organizations throughout Greater Cincinnati.”
Now in its fifth year, Rotary Cincinnati Do Days brings together Rotarians, community partners, businesses, and families for hands-on service projects addressing critical needs across the region.
