Indian Hill Garden Club’s Daffodil Project: Blooming Transformations

Close your eyes and imagine next spring—you’re driving along Indian Hill Road as thousands of golden daffodils dance in the breeze, their cheerful faces nodding hello. Sunlight catches their butter-yellow petals, creating a ribbon of color that stretches from Plainville Road to the top of the hill.  This isn’t a dream. It’s happening right now, thanks to the Daffodil Project stewarded by the Indian Hill Garden Club.

On a cool, crisp October morning, Indian Hill Garden Club members bundled up and got their hands dirty—really dirty. With invaluable support from Ken Smith and the Indian Hill Parks and Recreation staff, alongside Daffodil Project Coordinators Marsha Lindner and Susan Gibbs, volunteers knelt in the earth and planted 8500 bulbs that will transform a simple roadside into the promise of spring magic. 

But they didn’t stop there. Another 500 bulbs will soon find homes in the green space near Muchmore, Miami, and Annesdale, creating pockets of sunshine throughout our village.

The Daffodil Project furthers the reforesting and beautification of Indian Hill as a village where nature welcomes you at every turn. Picture the entrances at Shawnee Run near Milford carpeted in gold. Imagine Cunningham Road lined with blooms, and Blome & Camargo brightened by waves of yellow. Envision pulling up to Indian Hill High School through a sea of daffodils—a daily reminder to our students that beauty and community effort go hand in hand.
