Former Ohio State, NFL standouts join IHMS students for Team Tressel Fitness Challenge event
Indian Hill Middle School (IHMS) students welcomed Ohio Lt. Governor Jim Tressel Thursday, September 3, for a special school wide assembly designed to inspire healthy habits, personal goal setting, and a commitment to becoming their best. Tressel visited IHMS to highlight the Team Tressel Fitness Challenge, a free statewide initiative for Ohio students in grades 3-8. Joining him were former Ohio State University football and NFL athlete Sam Hubbard and former Ohio State University football, CFL, and NFL athlete DeVier Posey.
“Having Lt. Governor Tressel bring his special team and this powerful message directly to our students was an incredible opportunity,” said Indian Hill School District Superintendent Dr. Melissa Stewart. “At Indian Hill, we are committed to developing the whole child. The Team Tressel Fitness Challenge reinforces that excellence is built through daily choices – we appreciate this partnership so much.”
The Team Tressel Fitness Challenge encourages students to set individual goals and develop lifelong healthy habits across six areas: cardio, strength, flexibility, nutrition, sleep, and an attitude of gratitude.
During the assembly, Tressel, Hubbard, and Posey encouraged students to take ownership of their physical and personal wellness while emphasizing the connection between healthy habits, perseverance, and reaching one’s potential.
“The middle school years are such an important time for students to discover who they are and develop habits that can stay with them for a lifetime,” said Indian Hill Middle School Principal Dr. Lauren Gentene.
“Our students heard an important message today: growth isn’t about comparing yourself to someone else; it’s about setting meaningful goals, challenging yourself, and making intentional choices each day. We are grateful to Lt. Governor Tressel, Sam Hubbard, and DeVier Posey for creating such a memorable experience for our Braves.”
